Fake Virus Alert Email - Warning!
As I was going throgh some of my daily emails, I came across one that I would like to share. The subject line read : Virus Activity Detected! ( * also contained an attatchment). DO NOT ATTEMPT to open this email attatchment. I believe it to be a very bad worm / virus.
The message read as follows:
Dear Cutomer,
Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP adress on sending e-mails. Probably it is connected with the latest epidemic of a worm which does not have official patches at the moment. We recommend you to install this patch to remove worm files and stop email sending, otherwise your account will be blocked. We had archived the patch becouse the worm can modify unpacked exe files. You should open the archive file, enter the password and run the patch immediately.

The return address was: “Customer Support Robot” sjniz (at) disstrick (dot) com
Notice the domain name is DissTrick.com - Originating IP: [216.252.100.78]
The email message itself was an image copy made to look like someone typed it. When I went to copy & paste it, I noticed the trick.
Be very aware of the tactics these people try and the damage they can cause your computer, personal information and your network, if you have a computer that is shared within a network.
What caught my attention was the fact that they sent it the email address of one of my websites that does reply back to members upon activation. Please be carefull and have a good weekend.
